Robert P. Milia, 68, formerly of Ogdensburg, passed away May 9, 2011 in Orchard Lake, Mich.
He was born in Ogdensburg on Nov. 8, 1942.
Bob was a graduate of the University of Detroit (B.A., 1964; M.B.A., 1966; J.D., 1969). He was an AV-Rated Michigan attorney who practiced civil litigation for over 40 years. Bob spent the majority of his career as a Partner at Powers, Chapman, DeAgostino, Meyers & Milia.
His volunteer work in the community and in the legal community included: Mediator: Wayne County, Oakland County & 36th District Court; Member, Panel of Arbitrators, American Arbitration Association; Attorney Discipline Board Hearing Panelist; Former Treasurer and Legislative Representative for North Oak Chapter of Michigan Head Injury Alliance; University of Detroit (Member, Board of Directors, V.P. and President Law Alumni, 1992); Member: Oakland County, Macomb County, Detroit (Member, Board of Directors, 1977-1980); American Bar Associations; State Bar of Michigan (Member: Committees on: Negligence); Executive Board of Michigan Trial Lawyers Association, 2002-2003; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; Detroit Barristers Association (President, 1979-1980) and Orchard Lake City Councilman.
During his lifetime, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, golfing and cheering on his Detroit sports teams and his son's Michigan Wolverines football team. Bob enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles and his antique Chris Craft boat, collecting watches and antiques and spending time with his family and friends especially at his cottage on Harsens Island.
Beloved husband of Kathryn L. (nee Leone) for 44 years. Dear father of Marc J. Milia (Caroline) and Martha K. Milia (John Atchley). Grandfather of Sophia and Rocco. Brother of Carmelo Milia (Barbara), Placido Milia (the late Ann), the late Msgr. Anthony Milia and the late John Milia (the late Jeannette).
A Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 32340 Pierce, Beverly Hills. Visitation was held at the church and A.J. Desmond & Sons.
