A funeral service for 86-year old Mr. Robert P. Baker, of Colton, will be held Wed., Sept. 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home inPotsdam. Mr. Baker died at the home of his caregiver and beloved friend Mary Bush in Helena on September 19, 2011.
Robert was born in Potsdam, August 31, 1925, the son of Maynard Joseph Baker and Ora (Corchaine) Baker.
Survivors include his companion, Mary Bush; three daughters, Rosemary (Alfred) Lajoy, Roberta (Joe) Fifield, and Roxanne (Terry) Yerden; four sons, Arthur (Yvonne) Baker, Robin Lawrence, Kerry Baker, and Leslie Baker (Sandra Thornhill); step-children Melody (Fernando) Sortino, Dawn (Carmelo) Cotto, Diane LaSaige, Darlene Lawrence, and Judy (Clarence) Ashley; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Theresa (Robinson) Baker and his second wife Leona (Lousey) Baker; three step-sons, Connie Lawrence, William Lawrence, and James Carpenter; a step-daughter, Beverly Lawrence; two grandchildren, Eugene Yerden and Eric Cotto; a great-granddaughter, Autumn Pribble; brothers Charles and Stanley Baker; and his son, Bernard Baker.
Robert was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed carving decoys. He enjoyed going to the casino in Hogansburg. He also enjoyed gardening and playing pool. Prior to retirement he was employed for many years through the local #925 Painters & Allied Trades Union in Syracuse.
