Robert L. Griswold, 91, of Ogdensburg, died on April 23, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. The Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg is entrusted with arrangements. There will be no services.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Barton); sons, Robert G. and his wife Avril Griswold of Norwood, and James D. Griswold and his companion Marcia Britton, of Rensselear Falls and Laramie; a daughter, Rhonda J. Griswold of Leland, North Carolina; step daughter, Suzanne J. and her husband Alan Todd of Ogdensburg; stepson Charles A. Jenner; grandchildren, Nichole Costa of Colorado, and Eric and his wife Lorry Griswold of Fort Collins, Colorado; great grandchildren, Thomas Griswold and Eric Griswold Jr.; and one niece and one nephew.
He was predeceased by a brother, Dean Griswold.
Robert was born in Corning, New York, on June 8, 1922, the son Percy and Naomi Lilly Griswold. He was in the Army during WWII and was stationed in the South Pacific. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Oswego State and a Masters Degree from St. Lawrence University. He married Ruth Barton Jenner in 1957 in Ogdensburg. Robert was an industrial arts teacher for the Ogdensburg City School District from 1947 – 1977, until his retirement. He enjoyed wood working (making custom furniture), fishing, hunting and traveling. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
