Private graveside services for Richard M. Louey, 97, of County Route # 37, Massena will be held at the Carville Cemetery, Helena at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Richard died Friday, June 3, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Phillips memorial home, Massena are in charge of his arrangements.
Surviving are three sons, Eugene and his fiancee Bonnie Curry of Massena, Lawrence and Gail of Dickenson Center, Ellis and Cindy of Vancouver, Washington. Two daughters, Mirl Beckstead of Massena and Mary Hosier Canandaigua, NY. Fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years Mavis,a daughter-in-law Marilyn Louey, two son-in-laws Joseph Beckstead and Peter Violas and a grandson Robert Beckstead.
Richard was born January 30, 1914 the son of George and Mirl LaFlesh Louey of Dickenson Center. He attended local schools and married Mavis Mary Barlow on September 12, 1937 in Branden. He was employed with Alcoa for 32 years and also work at the Smith Hardware Store along with doing some farming,
He loved to fish, hunt, camp, telling stories and spending time with his children and grand children. Richard will always be remembered for his integrity, honesty, generosity and love for his family and friends.
