Mr. Richard M. Lazore, 20, more affectionately known as “Sako” or “Re:sis,” of 1366 River Rd., Akwesasne, tragically passed away early Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010 at the home of his brother, Joe in Snye, Quebec.
Richard was born April 7, 1990 in Cornwall, Ontario, the son of Joseph H. and Lucy M. Oakes Lazore. He graduated from CCVS in Cornwall, and was currently enrolled in paramedic school in Cornwall.
He played football in high school, having received the “Kindest Kid” award. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, paint-balling, boating, and loved being outdoors.
He is survived by his parents, Joe and Lucy of Akwesasne; two sisters, Donna Benedict and her husband, Nathan of Akwesasne, and Laura Lee Lazore and her companion, King Lyons of Onondaga; two brothers, Leonard Lazore and his wife, Nancy of Akwesasne, and Joe Lazore, Jr. and his companion, Jillian King of Akwesasne; his nieces and nephews, Rarihwenha:wi Lazore, who is also his godson, Raniehtenha:wi Benedict, Kaniehtokwas MacKenzie Benedict; and Raronhienha:wi Lazore; his goddaughter, Galiana Boots-Quiroz; many aunts and uncles including Dorothy Lazore, who is his godmother, Joyce Sharrow, Grace and Peter Mitchell, Angus and Jackie Lazore, Brian and Amy Mitchell, who is his godfather, and Lorna and Joe Francis and their children, Summer and Shane, Iris and James Jock, Joseph Jay, Maggie, and Mary Geraldine Oakes, Janet Davis and Dana Gibson; and several cousins.
He was predeceased an uncle, Cory Francis and Michael Oakes.
Friends may call at the home of his parents, 1366 River Rd., Akwesasne, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. until Monday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George H. Belgarde, SJ, officiating.
