Mr. Richard M. Brunet, age 75 of Potsdam, passed away on July 29, 2011 at the Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburg. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Southville Cemetery. Contributions in Richard’s memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Brunet is survived by his wife, Marie Brunet of Potsdam; his children and their spouses, Sharee (Scott) Lanphear of Edwards, Richard (Roxanne) Brunet of Ogdensburg, Joseph (Ramona) Brunet of Lisbon, Michelle (John) Haystead of St. Cloud, FL, Frank (Suzanne) Perkins of Dexter, NY, Richard (Tonilee) Perkins of Parishville, William and Thomas Perkins, Scott and Marcy Brunet all of Potsdam; three sisters, Elizabeth Smalley of Tupper Lake, Joan LaPoint and Patricia Perkins both of Potsdam; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother, Wayne Brunet and grandchildren Jason Brunet and Kalie Perkins.
Mr. Richard M. Brunet was born May 4, 1936 in Gouverneur, to the late Maurice and Olive Raymo Brunet. He attended Potsdam Schools. On June 3, 1970 he was married to Marie Trimm. He worked for the Cornish Tree Outfit for a few years, then General Motors for a few years. He then worked for Alcoa retiring in 1995 with over 31 years of service.
After his retirement he worked as a school crossing guard in the village of Potsdam for ten years.
He was an avid hunter and fisher and enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed going to the Redneck Tractor Pulls.
