A memorial service for Rene J. Verville, 65, of North Port, Fla., and formerly of Plattsburgh and Massena, who passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2010, will be held at St. John's Catholic Church in Plattsburgh, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010.
Rene was born Nov. 9, 1944, in Massena, to Paul and Berthe (Bissonnette) Verville.
Rene is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (Morris) Verville; a son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Jennifer and his adored grandson, Remy of Sarasota, Fla. Rene is also survived by one sister, Michelene and her husband, Paul Marion of Bloomington, Ind.; two brothers, Joseph and wife, Laurie of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donald and his wife, Kathy of Waddington, N.Y.
Rene is also survived by four brothers-in-law, Robert (Kip) and Daleann Morris of Massena, Bradley Morris of Houston, Texas, Daniel and Tammy Morris of Englewood, Fla., and John Morris and Darby of Massena, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews; cousins; and Sherry Favro of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Rene was a graduate of Massena High School and Plattsburgh State University. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
Rene entered the U.S. Customs Service in 1971 where he served until retiring in December 2001.
After retiring, Rene and Debbie moved to North Port. During his retirement, Rene spent a great deal of time caring for and helping others. In the last year and a half, Rene's greatest pleasure was the time spent with his grandson Remy, who was the light of his life.
