Mrs. Rebecca L. “Becky” LaFayette, 88, of 92 County Route 40, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the home of her dear friend, Shirley Smith in Lakeland, Florida, with her family by her side.
Becky was born August 10, 1922 in Constable, the daughter of Wilber Albert and Lucy Mary Gibeault Gokey. She attended schools in Malone, where she graduated. On October 21, 1941, she married Sidney Henry LaFayette at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Constable with Rev. Compeau, officiating.
Becky was a homemaker, who devoted her life to her husband. She and her husband lived from 1978 until 1983 in Arizona, where she was a manager of a mobile home park. She was a communicant of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, Raymondville and loved both flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed dining with friends and was such a joy to be around.
Becky will be sadly missed by her husband of 69 years, Sidney; two sons, Grant Henry LaFayette of Sahuarita, AZ and Sidney Wilber LaFayette and his wife, Linda of Zephyrhills, FL; and four grandchildren, Dana Mark, Grant Sidney, Scott and Shawn LaFayette.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Leif Wilber LaFayette in 1998.
Services were held privately at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena with Rev. Andrew Amyot officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Constable.
