Funeral services for Raymond G. LaRue Sr., 68, of Centennial Towers and formerly of 17 Mill Street in Ogdensburg, will be held Thursday (July 8, 2010) at 6:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Black Lake Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday evening from 4:00pm until the time of the service. Mr. LaRue passed away at his home early Tuesday morning July 6th.
Surviving is his wife Alice LaRue; four sons Raymond Thorton of Rochester, Steven Thorton of S. Carolina, Richard & Raymond LaRue both of Ogdensburg; six daughters Bonnie Tickner & her husband Steven of Rochester, Fern & Brenda LaRue and Amy Barrett of Ogdensburg, Loretta LaRue-Pond & her husband Michael of Massachusetts, & Eleanor Robledo of Ogdensburg; a sister Ilda Smith of Ogdensburg; 11 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Two sisters Grace Middlemiss & Sara Brashaw; two brothers George & Walter LaRue and a granddaughter Skylee LaRue predeceased him.
Raymond was born on June 17, 1942 in Potsdam, NY a son of Wilbur & Gladys (Finley) LaRue. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for his education, and was married to Alice Ibey in 1981 by Mayor Richard Lockwood.
His working career began as a laborer for the City of Ogdensburg, and then the Heuvelton Veneer Plant where he worked for many years. In 1981, he founded the LaRue’s Trash Removal Service actively working until 2005. He continued his hobby of “Collecting Junk” until his recent decline in health.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, scrap metal refurbishing and spending time with his family. Memorial contributions have been requested to the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
