MASSENA -- Ralph H. Frary, age 80, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 2nd, 2022, at the University of Vermont Medical Center with his loving family beside him.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Phillips Memorial Home, Massena, NY. Friends and family can be received on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, from 4-7 PM.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 9th, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church in Massena with Reverend Mark Reilly and Reverend Gary Giroux in officiating. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, N. Lawrence.
Ralph was born on October 27th, 1942, in Malone, the son of Howard C. and Ethel (Kingsley) Frary. He graduated from St. Lawrence School and attended Paul Smiths College.
He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966.
He married Winifred McGraw on December 30th, 1967, at St. Lawrence Church in N. Lawrence.
He was employed at Xerox Corp, Graphic Arts, and later Cellular One.
After he retired, he and his wife relocated to the family farm in Lawrenceville where he was employed with the Stauffer Farms as a truck driver, a job he truly enjoyed.
He was a member of the St. Lawrence Power & Equipment Museum, and Lawrenceville Historical Museum, Past Chief and Commissioner of the Sodus Center Fire Department, Twin Brook Hunting Club, and past President of Frary Family Occasion.
He liked to make maple syrup with his grandchildren and following his father’s footsteps, he and his son-in-law Tim started the “Hardly Able Sugaring Company.” He liked to hunt & spend time with his family.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Winifred “Winnie” of Massena, a daughter, Michelle and husband Tim Lashomb of Massena, two grandchildren; Austin Lashomb and companion Tristen Simons, Newark, NY; Abbie Lashomb and companion Aaron Deon of W. Stockholm, His siblings; Sharon & Hugh Bearce of N. Lawrence, Marcia & David Roland of Stafford, VA, Brian & Carol Frary of Baldwinsville, NY.
He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Deno, and a niece, Brianne Bunn.
Ralph was a devoted husband, loving father & grandfather, and all around a very humble & kind man.
