Funeral services for R. Wayne Davis, age 80, of Caroline St., will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Davis passed away on July 6, 2010 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Martha; four sons, Stephen Davis and his wife Maureen of Baldwinsville, Michael Davis of N.C., Mark Davis and his wife Shelly of Ogdensburg, and Andrew Davis of Corning; one sister, Rebecca Spooner of Ogdensburg; eight grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Desiree Davis, Rebecca Verillo, Kathryn Davis, Elizabeth Tufts, MaryBeth Davis, Andrew Davis and Christopher Davis; and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Romano, Amanda Lefler and Tailan Carerun.
He was predeceased by a son, Kevin in 2009; three sisters, Pauline Perkins, Letha Mae Kendrick, and Dolly Manville; one brother, Kelley who died at infancy.
Mr. Davis was born on July 17, 1929 in Bonafay, F.L., the son of Robert and Luvenia (Kelley) Davis. He attended schools in Florida. He married Martha Luksich on April 18, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. John Ryan officiating. Mr. Davis worked for Simplex Time and Recorder Company based out of Syracuse where he worked as a Sales and Service Engineer from 1964 to 1979.
Mr. Davis was a member of the K of C and a past member of the Elks Club and the Lions Club where he served as a past president. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge when they lived in
Florida.
