Richville - Phyllis M. Tamblin, age 90, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.
Funeral services are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Phyllis was born January 9, 1924 in Gouverneur, the daughter of John and Maude Grandy Briggs.
Phyllis married Roger A. Tamblin on January 24, 1942 in Gouverneur.
The couple operated a dairy farm, and Phyllis also worked as a housekeeper for local families and was employed as a cook at the Headstart Program and AMES department store restaurant.
Mr. Tamblin passed away January 5, 1999.
Phyllis had been a member of the Richville Friendship Club and the Gouverneur chapter of the Rebekahs.
She enjoyed working in her garden, canning, baking, and crocheting. Phyllis also liked to read, wordsearch puzzles, and most of all, spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.
Phyllis is survived by her six daughters and their spouses Sharon Young of Watkins Glen, Janet and Michael Greenhill of Gouverneur, Brenda and William Hay of Gouverneur, Barbara and Ronald "Duffer" Mashaw of Richville, Joanne and Richard "Lum" Lumley of Gouverneur, Tammy and Bradley Conklin of Gouverneur, and several grandchildren Kelly Young, Kendra Young, Cleve and Heather Greenhill, Stuart and Laurina Greenhill, Nancy Hay, Nicole and Tony Montone, Lisa Thomas, Ronnie and Jeri Mashaw, Jennifer and Ted Gardner, Brian and Allison Lumley, Aaron Tamblin, Leanne and Steve Bos, Craig and Rachel Lumley, Kristen Kulp, Ryan Kulp, Randy Kulp, Chelsey and Josh Constance.
She is also survived by great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Ruth Aurelio and Carolyn Lonkey, nieces Reta and Paul Reed, June and Keith Walrath.
Phyllis is predeceased by her husband Roger, her parents, her stepmother Lulu Briggs, a sister Dorothy Durant, an infant brother Bernard Briggs, and a nephew Bruce Tamblin.
