Funeral services for Phyllis Howard, age 77 , of Supply, NC, will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ogdensburg at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on July 21, 2011 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Howard passed away peacefully on July 17, 2011 at her home with her family.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, John; one daughter, Diana of Canton, OH; two sons, Kenneth Howard of Matthews, NC and Kevin Howard of Indian Trail, NC; one brother, Leland of Bombay; three sisters, Lois of Fort Covington, and Barbara of FL, Eleanor of Charlotte, NC; and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers, Wellington, Eldon, Bryce and Floyd; two sisters, Velda and Carolyn.
Mrs. Howard was born on February 21, 1934 in Fort Covington, the daughter of Floyd and Beulah (Benore) LaMay. She graduated from Fort Covington High school. She married John Howard on August 28, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington. They lived in Upstate NY for many years. Mrs. Howard worked at Warsaw State School from 1951 to 1954. She then worked for Rockland State Hospital from 1954 to 1964. Mrs. Howard was employed at Lisbon Central School until 1981.
Mrs. Howard was the president of Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 1342 in Lisbon. They moved to North Carolina where she was junior regent of the ladies of Moose Lodge 710 in Shallote, NC. Phyllis and John have spent the last 18 years enjoying life at Holden Beach, NC.
