Phyllis Gertrude Pierce, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Canton, on September 30, 2010 while under the care of her family and Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Born March 3, 1919 in Auckland, New Zealand, the daughter of the late Alan and Ruth Broderick. As a fiancé, Phyllis came to America after WWII to marry Edwin N. Pierce in Boston, MA, July 14, 1946.
She will be remembered best for opening her heart and home to others including two AFS students, two fresh air children, eight unwed mothers and providing a safe haven from domestic violence.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Edwin of Canton; children Sharon of MI; Kerry of FL; and Wendy Lee (Chuck) of FL; two adoptive daughters, Jo of Italy, Peggy of Boston; grandsons, Jeffrey of Afghanistan and Jonathan (Deanna) of WY; great-grandchildren, Trace and Teagan of WY; two sisters, Doreen and Isobel of New Zealand and several nieces and nephews
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
