A Memorial Mass for Phillip L. Jennings Sr., 91, of Ogdensburg and formerly of Alexandria Bay will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Burial will be at a later date at St. Cyril Cemetery. Mr. Jennings passed away at the St. Joseph’s Home early Friday morning, June 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving is his wife of 71 years Jean (Cassaw) Jennings; eight children Michael (Alice) Jennings of Watertown, Richard (Carol) Jennings of Watertown, Barbara (Jerry) Kroeger of Ogdensburg, Donald (Sandra) Jennings of Davenport, Fla., Joan (Jeff) Hewitt of Nashville, Tenn., Nancy Wheeler of Liverpool, James (Kathy) Jennings of Syracuse and Phillip (Sharon) Jennings Jr. of Memphis, NY.
A daughter Laura Scinta; a brother Earl Jennings and a sister Helen Hudson predeceased him.
Phillip was born on January 25, 1928 in Gouverneur, a son of Guy & Marion (Myers) Jennings. He attended Gouverneur High School and later entered the US Army during World War II. He married Jean Cassaw on June 30, 1948.
He was employed by NY Telephone as a foreman for 33 years in both Gouverneur and Alexandria Bay. He retired in 1985. Phillip was a charter member of the Gouverneur Elks Club, a member of the Gouverneur Fire Department, a member and past president of the Alexandria Bay Rotary Club, where he was also awarded the Paul Harris Award.
