Former Potsdam mayor Paul Claffey, 90, passed away in Laytonsville, Md., Saturday, July 16, 2011.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 917 Montrose Rd., Rockville, Md.
Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Germantown, Md.
Paul was born in Ogdensburg January 2, 1921, and grew up in Norwood.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he served in Potsdam village government, as a trustee and as mayor.
He was husband to Margaret C. Claffey, and father of Theresa Trimble and her husband Bruce of Laytonsville, Mary Pat Bow and her husband Clark of Dandridge, Tenn., Tim Claffey and his wife Birgitta Koskinen of Bedminster, N.J., and Kevin Claffey and his wife Jan of Frisco, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and by his sisters, Ellen Claffey of Norwood, and Jane Claffey of Plattsburgh.
Arrangements are with Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, Rockville.
