Patricia Newhard Murray, 71, of Cornelius, N.C., formerly of Ogdensburg, died December 12, 1010 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Huntersville, N.C.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Raymer Funeral Home.
She leaves behind a family of people who she made better by her incredible love and support, her husband of 49 years Gus Murray, her father Henry Newhard, her sister Pamela Hahn, her son Todd Murray, her daughter Meghan Parisi, her daughter-in-law Kristen Murray, her son-in-law Frank Parisi, her beloved grandchildren, her aunt Lenita Shanks and cousins (Bud and Kathleen) along with several nieces and nephews (Philip, Kevin, Jill, Josh and Blaire) will try to fill the void left by this significant loss.
Born August 11, 1939 in Hudson, N.Y., she was the daughter of Henry Newhard and the late Lucy Shanks Newhard.
“Pat” was an amazing person who had a positive impact on all those she met. She was the leader of an extended family who included many that loved her very much and will miss her tremendously.
She was a loyal friend to a global community of people that she met while living in Connecticut, Charlotte, Upstate N.Y., Japan and Hong Kong with her husband and retired IBM executive, Lee A. “Gus” Murray.
She was a nurse and received her B.S. in Nursing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and worked for many years as a school nurse in Ogdensburg, the New Canaan, Conn., public school system, and at the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, Japan.
She was passionate about her role as a mom and grandmother to Kelsey, Gus and Lucy Murray.
She loved to travel and did so extensively all over the world, but spent the last 37 summers at her summer cottage on the Saint Lawrence River in upstate New York.
