MASSENA -- Michael Craig Williams, of East Syracuse, NY, passed away November 11, 2022, at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY from complications following a tragic fall August 15, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends during his long hospital stay and at the time of his passing.
Michael was born July 14, 1963, in Potsdam, New York, the youngest of six children born to Sidney Stewart Williams and Virginia Ruth (Finnegan) Williams of Massena. He was predeceased by both parents, his brother, Martin Stewart Williams and Martin's wife, Carol of Massena, NY, his sister, Cheryl (Daniel) Fitzgerald of Lake Bluff, IL as well as three nephews, Stewart and Stiles Jacobs, and Steven Robare. His wife, Paula (Cline) Williams, died three weeks after him. He is also survived by three remaining sisters, Linda Williams of Massena, NY, Marcia (George) Schaefer of Syracuse, NY, and Paula Willard of Lake Ozonia, NY and AZ, as well as several nieces and nephews and his wife’s daughter Billie Jo Cline.
Michael grew up in Massena until the age of 14 when he and his mother moved to Florida, spending summers at his mother’s camp on Lake Ozonia.
They returned to Upstate NY when Mike was a young adult, at which time he attended Canton ATC, earning honors, and received his AAS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1987.
After graduation, he was employed at KJ Electric, a family-owned business in East Syracuse. Michael worked at “KJ” for 35 years, earning many awards for excellence in sales and customer service. According to Carol, one of the co-owners of KJ Electric, his uncanny ability to remember and recall numbers and technical data was exceptional and directly attributed to his success in his career. She went on to say that he took immense pride in helping customers throughout NYS and that they always knew he had their best interests in mind as he found solutions to help them. You could frequently hear laughter as Michael shared humorous stories with his co-workers.
Michael's interests included fishing, hunting, electronics, and cooking. He would often regale people with remembrances of his happy times at the family camp on Lake Ozonia where he spent so much of his youth and early adulthood, up until its sale. Michael's death leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him.
Calling hours were Friday, the 2nd of December 2022 at Mathewson-Forani Funeral Home, Inc., 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
