MASSENA – A Mass of Resurrection for Mertis J. Perras, 88, formerly of 283 Main St., Massena will be held on Friday, July 16, at noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart Church, Massena with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding.
Friends and family may be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St., Massena. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mertis Perras passed away Tuesday (July 13, 2010) surrounded by family at the Highland Nursing Home.
She was born October 21, 1921 in Dickinson Center, the daughter of Francis and Eleanor (Holmes) Shatraw.
She is survived by two daughters and a son, Mrs. Robert (Annette) Neverette of Massena, Yvonne Montepetit and son-in-law Maurice of Louisville, Lawrence A. of Louisville; 13 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack and Darrell Shatraw both of Winthrop; two sisters, Olivia Cyrus and Beverly Page both of Winthrop; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Clifford Shatraw and a granddaughter Renee Montepetit in 2009.
She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy, Brasher Falls.
She married Leon A. Perras on September 11, 1940 at St. Patrick's Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Cotter presiding.
Mr. Perras predeceased her on December 25, 1999.
Following their retirement. Mrs. Perras and her husband enjoyed going to Florida, she also enjoyed crafting and cooking for her family.
