Calling hours for Maurice “Boomer” D. Newton, 58 of Lincoln Ave. Waddington, will be held Wednesday, from 7 -8:30 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, 28 Clinton St. Waddington.
Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington.
Friends and family may be received at 7 p.m. until time of services.
Mr. Newton died unexpectedly Saturday morning (November 27, 2010) at his residence.
Surviving Maurice "Boomer" D. Newton are four sons and two daughters, Scott of Painted Post, Shawn and Daniel Newton both of Horse Heads, Brian of Waddington, Brenda Newton, and Becky and husband David Harris both of Madrid; his companion, Tammy Herbstler; nine grandchildren; and three brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Newton was born in Potsdam on January 24, 1952 the son of Maurice W. and Belva (Gerboth) Newton. He attended local schools.
He married Candide A. Revette on December 23, 1989 in Waddington. Mrs. Newton predeceased him on July 7, 2008.
Mr. Newton was employed for 37 years as a Maintenance Mechanic at the Water Department for the Village of Potsdam.
Mr. Newton was an accomplished musician playing the keyboard, he wrote music and played in various area bands.
He volunteered his time as handyman for his neighbors.
