A funeral service for Mr. Mathew James Stone, 28, of Norwood, and formerly from Canton will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Mathew died on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Sheryl and John Campbell of W. Stockholm; a brother, Craig Stone of Norwood; a step-brother, John W. Campbell and his wife Denise of Pennsburg, PA; a step-sister, Melissa Campbell Day and her husband Greg, of Lancaster, CA; three uncles, George, Henry and Tommy Stone; three aunts, Mrs. Charles (Kathy) Horton, Mary Lou Demorest, and Barbara Bernett.
Mathew was predeceased by his father, Jimmy L. Stone; his paternal grandparents, James T. and Nancy (Purves) Stone, and Ruth Gardner Ryan; his maternal grandparents, Albert and Barbara Bernett; and his aunt, Diana Bernett.
Mathew was born in Potsdam, on March 4, 1983 the son of Jimmy Lawrence Stone and Sheryl (Bernett) Campbell. He was a 2002 graduate of Canton Central School. Mathew was employed at the Potsdam IGA as a meat cutter. Prior employment was with the Willard’s Meat Processors of Heuvelton.
Mathew enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved his toys, his motorcycle, 4 wheelers, and snowmobiling. He rode with no fear.
