Funeral services for Mary O. Bresett, age 88 of Mulberry, FL and formerly of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday (Jan 13, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Robert Longbottom officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Ogdensburg Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Thursday morning at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Bresett died Sunday (Jan 9, 2011) at the Bartow Regional Medical Center in Florida.
Surviving are three sons, David Bresett and his wife Chris of Mary Point, VA, Terry Bresett and his wife Sandra of Ogdensburg, and Don Bresett and his wife Patricia of Valrico, FL; a daughter, Carolyn Leathers of Colton; a brother, William Fournier and his wife Ruth of South Carolina; grandchildren Nicole Avila and her husband Joshua Stein, Ben Bresett and his wife April, Beth Bresett, Jared Bresett and his wife Bianca, and Amanda Bresett; a great-granddaughter, Kayla Bresett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Carlton; a daughter, Sharon Louise; three sisters, Helena Fournier, Ursula LaGray and Marguerite LaGray; and a brother Bud Fournier.
Mary was born on October 15, 1922 in Scarborough, Ontario, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Spooner) Fournier. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and attended the local business school. She married Carlton E. Bresett on June 26, 1943 at St. Mary Church in Massena.
She worked for the Department of Navy at Alcoa during World War II, Randall’s Manufacturing and the Department of Transportation until the early 60’s. She then became employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as the patient account clerk until 1985 when she retired. She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed line dancing, playing cards, shuffleboard and reading.
