A mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mary M. LaPointe, age 94, of Potsdam, will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at the Visitation Cemetery in Norfolk. Mary is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Marlyne) Ashley; grandchildren Eydie (Rob) Bovay, Michelle (Wayne) Edney, Edward (Dawn) Glasgow, Renee (Dan) Dominie, Ronald T. (Laura) LaPointe, and Ryan LaPointe; great grandchildren Jamie Bovay, Jeremy (Paula) Bovay, Sean Glasgow, Devon LaPointe, Collin LaPointe, and David (Kate) LaPointe; step grandchild Kellie (Shane) Grause; great grandchildren Aedan Bovay, Jacob Bovay, Mila Bovay, and Easton Glasgow; step great grandchildren Kasey and Cheyane Grause; sisters Margaret Mere and Mrs. Wayne (Helen) Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Ronald J. LaPointe who passed in 1994; brothers Steve, John, Joseph and George Gang; sister Julie Molnar; a grandson, Jason M. Bovay; and her companion Stanley Simonds. .
Mary M. LaPointe was born on August 10, 1917 in Norfolk, to the late Steve and Emma Moroz Gang. She was a graduate of Norfolk High School. In 1937 at the Church of the Visitation she was married to Ronald W. LaPointe. The marriage ended in divorce. He passed away in 1996. Mary worked at Alcoa, St. Regis Paper Mill, the Oval Wood Dish, Potsdam State Teacher’s College and at the Potsdam Neighborhood Center.
Mary loved to knit, bowling and traveling but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam. Condolences can be sent online on www.garnerfh.com.
