Mrs. Mary K. Stevens, age 83, of Potsdam, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Massena Memorial Hospital in Massena. She was currently a resident at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena. Funeral services for Mary will be held on Thursday, April 26th at 2 p.m. at the Garner Funeral Service with Rev. Lee Sweeney celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the Garfield Cemetery in Potsdam.
Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Contributions in Mary’s memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Wendy Reynolds and her fiancé Richard Isaacs of Liverpool, Renee (Ernest) Jock Jr. of Norfolk and Lori Gushlaw of Potsdam; and her grandchildren, Bridgette Fountain, Jesse Reynolds, Teanna Lambert, Katie Morrill, Ryan Morrill and Lacey Law; and six great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Vyron Ray Stevens Jr. who died December 20, 2006; her daughter, Sharon Molz; sisters Emma Bush, Naomi Stevens, Eloise Fletcher and Neva Phillips; and her brothers, George, Carl and Allen Phillips.
Mary K. Stevens was born May 10, 1928 in Potsdam, to the late Carl and Alice Stone Phillips. She attended the Potsdam Normal School. On July 3, 1947 at the Trinity Church in Potsdam, she was married to Vyron Ray Stevens. Mary was a loving mother and a homemaker.
