Funeral service for Mary Jane Putnam, 62, of Hermon will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. John Kashorek, officiating. Burial will follow at the Hermon Cemetery. Mrs. Putnam passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at home while under the Care of Hospice.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions in her memory may be made to the NRA, 11250 Waples Mill Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030 or to the American Legion Post 74, Ladies Auxiliary, 128 SH 345, Potsdam, NY 13676.
Surviving Mary Jane are a son, Jeffrey and wife Nicole Putnam of Parishville; a daughter, Danielle LaRue of Hermon; two sisters, Ruth Wright of Hermon and Deborah Capers of California; and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, Ivan Stone Jr.; and by a sister, Marlene Jacques.
Mary Jane was born March 28, 1948 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Ivan and Margaret Jessie (Enslow) Stone. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1966. On July 25, 1966 she married Monroe Putnam in Haynesville, PA. Mary Jane was a Med Certified Aide for United Helpers ICF in Rensselaer Falls; and previously a cook and bartender at the Best Western.
She enjoyed Bingo, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, bowling, softball, dancing, vacationing, and watching TV and Elvis. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
