OGDENSBURG- Mary J. Lenney of Potsdam passed away Early Saturday morning surrounded by the staff of St. Joseph’s nursing home.
Born in Massena, NY, May 23, 1930, the Daughter of Antonio and Angela Jermano. She graduated from Massena High School in 1948. She worked as manager of the Potsdam, NY, Western Union office for 19 years and was the Text Book Buyer at the SUNY Potsdam’s College Bookstore, retiring in 1992. She married Frank J. Lenney on June 5, 1965 at St. Mary's Church in Massena. They are both active parishioners at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, knitting, golfing, the Red Hat Society and volunteered with youth reading programs in Harlingen, TX where she was a winter resident.
She is survived by her husband, Frank and son, Christopher (Danielle) Lenney; sisters, Betty (Michael) Larosa, Anna (Donald) McKenna , Loretta Connolly, Angela Wood, and Christine Volk. She has two step-grandchildren, Makenna and Ethan. She has six nieces and 12 nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Catherine Hand; brothers-in-law, William (Bill) Wood, Fred Hand, Daniel Volk; two nephews and one niece.
Donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Nursing home in Ogdensburg. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant.
