Mary Grogan, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and aunt, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the age of 43, surrounded by family and friends. She resided in Chase Mills with her loving and devoted husband, Shawn and four beautiful children, Joshua, 15, Isaiah, 12, Rachel, 10 and John, 6.
Mary was born, October 19, 1967 in Brockport, the daughter of the late Clarence H. Gadway. Her parents, Beverly (Raville) and Joseph Robideau reside in the small hamlet of Chasm Falls in Malone. She attended school in Malone, and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1986. She received an Associate’s degree in Accounting from NCCC in 1988.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Catholic church. On September 10, 1988 she was married to Shawn Grogan at St. Helens Catholic Church in Chasm Falls, with Reverend Menard officiating. She worked at Paul Smiths College and Potsdam Paper Mill until her most fulfilling career as a beloved wife and mother. Her interests are many but most dear to her was her family, church, gardening, and flowers.
Mary is survived by her husband Shawn; four children, Joshua, Isaiah, Rachel and John of Chase Mills; her mother and stepfather, Beverly and Joseph Robideau; six siblings, Debbie Reyome and spouse, Robert, Craig and wife Louise Gadway, Roger and wife Debbie Gadway, Glenn and wife Candace Gadway, and Cindy Gadway and her partner Scott Steenberge; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by her father, Clarence H. Gadway; an older sister, Linda Mary Gadway; and a brother, Ronald Joseph who died at birth.
A Mass of resurrection will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011, at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Friends and family may be received on Thursday, June 23, 2011, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund.
