MASSENA – Marvin C. Cobb, 80, formerly of DeKalb, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena where he had received the loving care of their staff during the last 6 months of his life.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 31st from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. both at the Hermon Baptist Church with Robert Browning, pastor of Hermon Baptist Church and Collin Lucid, pastor of Cavalry Baptist Church, Massena. Spring burial will be in Hermon Cemetery and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Hermon.
Marvin was born in Hermon on April 1, 1931, the son of Alton and Ethel Dewey Cobb.
Marvin graduated from Hermon High School in 1949, and he served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was employed at DeKalb Telephone Company, Citizens Telephone Company in Hammond, and retired from TDS of Edwards as a manager on May 1, 1993.
He married Eva St. John on July 24, 1954.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eva; two sons, pastor Irvin Cobb and his wife Janet of Omaha, NE, Steven Cobb and his wife Susan of Raymondville; a daughter, Judith Cobb of Upper Arlington, OH; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Tibberts of Bethlehem, PA, Marilyn Nicholson of Union, NJ; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
