Martha Hyde Gillen, 77, passed away Friday, December 10, 2010 at her home. A graveside service will be held in the spring and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Martha was born February 5, 1933 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Alger and Emogene Hall Hyde. Martha married William Gillen in 1971, and the couple worked in the mental health field in Connecticut for several years. They returned to the Hyde family farm on the Hyde Road where they lived over thirty years. Mr. Gillen, a retired St. Joe Mineral employee, passed away July 30, 2007.

She enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers.

Martha is survived by a daughter, Marcella J. Paterson of Oswego; three grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; a sister, Jane and George Bell of Dover; and a brother, Charles and Rose Hyde of Myrtle Beach, SC.
