Funeral services for Marion K. Downey, age 85, formerly of 907 South Water Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Downey passed away on March 13, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Home.
Mrs. Downey is survived by three daughters, Pamela Richardson of Ogdensburg, Sandra Johnson of Ogdensburg and Carol Spooner; two sisters, Pat Fassett and her husband Richard of Ogdensburg and Barbara Stone and her husband Roger of Erie, PA; a brother-in law, Charles Roach of Ogdensburg; grandchildren, Stacey LaFlair, Matthew Richardson and his wife Jacqueline, Tanner and Tessa Richardson, Laurie Fobare, Foster Myers and Tammy DeRosa; and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma, Tristan, Azlyn and Tavion, Elizabeth, Lauren, Chad, Cassandra and Brittney.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Carolyn Plumadore, Janice Richards and Helen Roach; and one grandson, Chad LaFlair.
Mrs. Downey was born on December 28, 1925 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Jerome and Francis Sovie Plumadore. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1944. She married Milton Downey on April 23, 1946 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Louis Berube officiating. Mr. Downey passed away in 2005. She first worked for Woolworth, later working for Randalls which became Mitchell and Maltby where she worked as a seamstress. She then worked for St. Joseph’s Home in Housekeeping.
She was a gifted seamstress. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, spending time with family and attending family reunions.
