Marion E. Rickett, age 80, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at home.
Marion was born on May 11, 1930 in the town of Rossie, the daughter of the late William T. and Martha (Delano) Tibbles. She went to school in the Rossie local country school and the Theresa High School.
She married Howard K. Rickett, Sr. on December 27, 1946 at the Redwood Methodist Parsonage by Rev. VonDebbin. Mr. Rickett died on August 23, 1983.
Mrs. Rickett was a homemaker living in Gouverneur from 1946 until moving to be with her daughter in Copenhagen in 2006, then to Adams Center in 2008. She was a member of the Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxillary and T.O.P.S. in Gouverneur and Antwerp. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading, and collecting photos of family and friends.
Her survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, William G. and Jean, David W. and Dee Dee, and Kenneth W. Rickett, all of Gouverneur; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carolyn A. and George Reynolds of Sweetwater, Tenn., Diane M. and Joie McDougall, and Nancy R. Lyons, all of Gouverneur, and Lois R. and Randy Garceau of Adams Center; 18 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, 35 step great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and 11 step-great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marion was predeceased by her husband; a son, Howard K. Rickett, Jr; a daughter, Doris E. Rickett; three brothers, Rufus, Reuben and Howard R. Tibbles; two sisters, Frieda M. Burns and Josephine E. Burns; a son-in-law, Charles M. Lyons; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Rickett.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
