Marion E. Peck, age 85, passed away on Thursday, June 23, at the E.J. Noble Hospital, Gouverneur.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Monday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12 p.m. officiated by Rev. William Hart. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery.
Marion was born on December 5, 1925, in Fine to the late Edward and Gertrude (Allen) Salmon. She attended school in Fine. A marriage to Howard McBroom ended in divorce on good terms. Marion was married to Robert H. Peck on January 13, 1960. Mr. Peck died on May 23, 2003.
Mrs. Peck was employed by the Mexico High School, Doule’s Lumber Yard and was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed embroidering. Marion was a dog lover and an avid collector of dolls. She enjoyed square dancing and listening to the Black River Fiddlers.
Her survivors include three sons and their wives, Howard R. and Sharlene McBroom of Arizona, Thomas and Vickie McBroom of Rensselaer Falls, and Terry and Marie McBroom of Lisbon; and three daughters, Rosemary Ward of Maine, Mrs. Robert (Patsy) Smith of Gouverneur and Mrs. Charles (Sharein) Elliott, Sr. of Gouverneur. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 4 step-great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husbands she is predeceased by a son, Sidney Ross McBroom; a daughter, Linda L. Benjamin; a grandson, Tommy Sibley; her stepmother, Myrtle Cobb Salmon; a brother, Chester Salmon and a son-in-law, Jerry Ward.
