On September 1, 1954, she married “her little Irishman,” Edward Riley, in Massena. They shared 48 years together until his passing in 2004. They often said the "best years" of their life together were spent by the "pond" in the cottage they built together.
Marie worked at the Rome State School for several years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Florence. She was very passionate about the outdoors, wildlife, music and woodworking.
