Margaret W. Montgomery, 90, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG -- A Funeral Mass for Margaret W. Montgomery, age 90, of Franklin Street will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (January 14, 2019) at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Entombment will follow at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday (January 13) from 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. Montgomery passed away early Thursday morning (Jan 10) at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.

Surviving is her husband of 72 years, Joseph Montgomery of Ogdensburg; two sons, Lawrence & Lucille Montgomery of Ogdensburg and David & Mickie Montgomery of Concord NC; two daughters, Marcia & Joseph Derrigo of Ogdensburg and Paula & Derrick Miller of Syracuse; nine grandchildren, Lori & Craig Sibley of Heuvelton, Joseph & Andrea Montgomery of Rensselaer Falls, Larry Montgomery of Canton, Melissa & Scott Murray of NC, Melinda & Pete Hefti of NC, Jill & Lewis Alston of NC, Dawn Moore-Montgomery of NC, Joseph & Julia Derrigo of Chevy Chase, MD and Nicole Miller of VA; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.

Margaret was predeceased by her siblings Walter “Mickey” Mickens, Joan Mickens, Betty Powers, Jane Bresett and Catherine Roberts.

She was born on August 31, 1928 in Gouverneur, a daughter of the late Walter & Beatrice (Brayton) Mickens. She graduated from Philadelphia High School, and later married Joseph Montgomery on November 3, 1946.

Margaret was a stay at home wife and mother that raised four beautiful children and cared for her husband with love. She was a member of both the women’s bowling league and couples league in Ogdensburg for many years, a member of the Jaycee’s Organization and an active March of Dimes Volunteer. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, shopping, playing cards, and eating at Phillips Diner.
