Funeral services for Mabel Petell, age 81, of Watertown and formerly of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on August 31, 2011 at Frary Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Petell passed away on August 28, 2011 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown surrounded by her family.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Linda Johnson of Saranac Lake and Marie Petell of Watertown; two sons, Corey Emmons of Central Square and Hollis Harris of Ogdensburg; two brothers, Maurice Johnson of Hammond and Jason Johnson, address unknown; one sister, Evelyn Fifield of Richville; and six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Lwellyn, Dwayne, Charlie and Brayton; and three sisters, Lois, Cecilia and Bertha.
Mrs. Petell was born on February 16, 1930 in Lapeer, Michigan, the daughter of Brayton Sr. and Doris (Smith) Johnson. She attended school in Central Square. She worked as a housekeeper at St. Joseph’s Home. She married James Petell on July 10, 1965 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Joseph Trombley officiating.
Mrs. Petell was an avid bingo player and enjoyed going to casinos.
