Lyle R. Marlowe, 88, of Orchard Road, Massena, passed away on April 20 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Lyle was employed at the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. from 1958 until his retirement in 1983 as a building maintenance supervisor. For many years Lyle owned and operated a plumbing and heating business.
Born on August 10, 1923 in Massena the son of William and Lena (LaRose) Marlowe. Lyle married Marjorie C. Derouchie on June 25, 1945 at Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Marlowe predeceased him on July 20, 1985.
Lyle later married Marjorie Thousand on December 31, 1985, Marjorie predeceased him on August 11, 2008. Lyle is survived by four children, Christopher L. and Anne of Yardley, PA; Theodore E of Rensselaer; Sara M. and Mike Kardasz of Coram; Thomas J. of Massena, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, stepchildren, William, Harold, and Warren Thousand all of Syracuse, Richard of Clevand, OH, Sarah Boyce of Massena, and Margaret Bottone of Salinas, CA., several step grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Royal, Clarence and Peter, sisters, June Perry, Florence Kennedy, Frances Lockwood, Marie Beaudoin, Blanche Ernest. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1141, Massena Elks Lodge BPOE #1702, past member of Massena Country Club, he was a communicant of Sacred Heart church and was very active in the church choir.
Lyle was an avid golfer and gardener. Lyle enjoyed many years as a Boy Scout Leader and as a local District Team Leader. At the family's request, memorials may be made to Trinity Catholic Endowment Fund. Friends and family may be received on Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
A Mass of Resurrection will be on Monday, April 23, at 12 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
