Lucille B. Degone, 95, of Ogdensburg, died on October 13, 2011. She had been in the care of her loving family and Hospice. Born in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of Alfred and Agnes Lapointe. She married Lawrence Degone on May 16, 1936 at St. John Bosco Church, Malone, NY with her uncle, the Rev. Euclid Elie officiating.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence in 1968; and her three sisters, Agnes Greene, Alice Charlebois and Yvonne Santemont.
She is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Donna and George Swan of Ogdensburg and M. Juliana Degone of Canton; five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker. Her first employment as a young woman was with JJ Newberry’s, and in her 40s enjoyed her employment at Newell’s where she prepared the coffee and donuts for employee breaks. After the death of her husband, she worked for 10 years as a Therapy Aide at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.
In her younger years, she loved to dance. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and bingo. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Frary Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Notre Dame Church on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. James Shurtleff officiating.
