Louise A. Blackmer, age 81, formerly of Degrasse, passed away at home in Edwards on September 20, 2011 under the care of her loving family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Edwards on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Her funeral service will be at the funeral home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. William Malone of the Edwards New Beginnings Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare.
Louise was born on April 7, 1930 in Russell to the late Claude and Luella (Pike) Paro. She attended Knox Memorial High School and married Hamilton D. Blackmer on March 1, 1950 in the Russell United Methodist Church. Mr. Blackmer passed away on February 4, 1991.
Mrs. Blackmer had lived most of her life in Degrasse. She was a member of the Oswegatchie Order of the Eastern Stars and a Communicant of the Degrasse United Methodist Church.
Her survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Diane M. (Michael) Corbine of Gouverneur, Martha J. (Gary) Rider of Degrasse, Patricia L. (John) MacIntyer of Rochester, and Tammy (Cully) Bell of South Russell; two sons, Michael J. Blackmer of Star Lake, and Robert P. Blackmer of Oswego; and her sister, Julia M. Forbes of Edwards; and 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Blackmer was predeceased by her parents; a son, David E. Blackmer who died in 2007; and a granddaughter, Brandi Jo Rider who died in 1976.
