Lora Marie Foster, 85, Brushton

Lora Marie Foster, beloved wife and mother went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2011 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone.

She was born in Brushton on July 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Ray and Bertha Whitman Saxton. Lora graduated as class president and valedictorian from Brushton High School in 1942. She also graduated from Adirondack Commercial School and worked for the railroad Express Agency for a short time.

On April 22, 1944 she married Royal Foster. Together they operated a dairy and potato farm for many years. He predeceased her on November 17, 1996. Since 2006, Mrs. Foster has resided at the Farrar Home in Malone, but maintained residences in Brushton as well as Clearwater, Florida where she and her husband enjoyed many winters.

Mrs. Foster was a member of the Malone Wesleyan Church. Lora was an Avid reader, enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, and playing games. She and her husband traveled to all 50 states and all Canadian providences as well as taking several cruises to Caribbean ports and the Panama Canal. Her greatest joy though was her family.

Lora is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Gloria Foster of Pomona, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharlene and Jeff Jock of Brushton; four grandchildren, Tina Foster of Louisville, KY, Royal Foster of Chino Hills, CA, Victoria (Michael) Peter of Rochester and Kati Jock of Glenville; five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Schafer of Gerry; and several nieces and nephews.

Lora was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Kermit Saxton; and one great-grandson, William Kearns.

Calling hours will be held at the Malone Wesleyan Church on Finney Blvd. on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow calling hours with Rev. Marc Watkins officiating.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be directed to the Malone Wesleyan Church or a charity of one’s choice. Spring burial will take place in Sunnyside Cemetery, Brushton.
