Funeral services for Lloyd A. Sheets, 88, of St. Lawrence Ave., Waddington will be held on Saturday Feb. 19, 2011at 10:00 a.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 28 Clinton St. Waddington. Interment will be in Scotch Presbyterian Cemetery in the spring. Lloyd passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Feb. 16, 2011.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Natalie, of 65 years; two daughters and a son, Suzanne Andrick of Wildwood, FL, Cynthia and husband David Devine of Middletown, CT and Dennis Sheets of Waddington; and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, George and Walter; and two sisters, Eva Henderson and Ada Rose.
Lloyd was born on October 11, 1922 in Norfolk, the son of Nelson and Hattie (Latour) Sheets. Lloyd graduated from Waddington High School and was a graduated of Clarkson College. Lloyd served in the Pacific Theater with the 4th Division, US Marine Corps during WWII. He married Natalie Dawson on February 5, 1946 at the Baptist Church in Ogdensburg. He employed at Alcoa for 39 and half years, retiring in 1981 as a maintenance superintendant.
Lloyd was a life time member of the American Legion Post #420, member of the 25 Year Club at Alcoa. Lloyd enjoyed wood working, making furniture and fabricating his own machinery.
