Funeral services for Linda LaPlatney, 63, of Canton will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton with Rev.Mother Carrie Schofield-Broadbent, officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Canton. Mrs. LaPlatney passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to Canton Rescue or to Pyrites Volunteer Fire Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Linda is her husband of 43 years, David; three sons, David and wife Kate of Springfield, MA, Michael and wife Michelle of Clay, John and fiancée Tracy George of Pierrepont; a sister, Joan and husband Alvin McBroom of Pyrites and two granddaughters, Bailey M. LaPlatney and Taryn N. LaPlatney.
Two brothers, Thomas and John Powers and a sister Edna Dafoe predecease her.
Linda was born on September 9, 1946, in Canton, daughter of the late William H. and Leola (James) Powers. She graduated from Knox-Memorial Central in 1965. On October 9, 1966 she married David LaPlatney in Hermon with Rev. Curtis Denny, officiating.
Linda enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
