Lesa Pistolesi Rotundo, age 91, of Gouverneur passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at home under the loving care of her family and Hospice.
Mrs. Rotundo was born on August 9, 1919 in Watertown, the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara Pistolesi. The family returned to Italy when she was an infant, and returned to the U.S. when she was eight. She attended school in Gouverneur and worked at her parents’ restaurants.
She married Arthur Rotundo on September 20, 1942 in Gouverneur. Mr. Rotundo died in 1985. Mrs. Rotundo was a homemaker who loved to clean and cook. She made Italian cookies for everyone who liked them. She loved people and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a special person who will be sadly missed.
Surviving are two sons, Robert and Louise Rotundo of Palm Bay, Florida and Richard Rotundo of Ogdensburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Fred Dunkelberg of Gouverneur; a sister and her husband, Rena and Ernest Griebsch; and seven grandchildren and their spouses, nineteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lesa was predeceased by a brother, Mario Pistolesi; and three sisters, Eda Sleeman, Gilda Calvani, and Mary Curcio.
Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with her son-in-law, Fred Dunkelberg, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
