Memorial services for Leona S. Czernia (Sandy) who passed away on Oct. 31, 2013 in Rochester will be held Saturday Nov. 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Canton United Methodist Church.
Sandy is survived by her companion of over twenty years, Duane Stratton (Pierrepont); her daughter, Sherry (Bill II) Miller; beloved grandsons, Billy & Chad all from Kendall; by nine brothers and sisters Frank (Reggie) and wife Dale, Rex (Becky) Burns, Pierrepont, Kirk (Brenda) Burns, South Colton, Rodney Potsdam, Rusty, Waterford, CT and Kermit (Sandy) Pyrites; sisters, Regena (Larry) Sutton, Robin Johns (friend Paul) Elmira and Amy (Tim) Irwin, Brasher Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy was born January 22, 1945 the daughter of the late Frank E and Leona (Coffey) Burns. She married Ed Czerniak July 4, 1963 in Rochester. Ed remained her true friend to the very end. She attended Knox Memorial Central School. Early in her adult life she was a waitress at the Manhattan Restaurant in Rochester, NY and later drove a school bus in the Rochester area.
She was previously deceased by both parents, Frank & Leona (Coffey) Burns, siblings Jean (infancy), Rory, Ricky, Rocky, Kevin and Dixie.
Sandy loved her grandsons more than life itself. She sang and played guitar all her life. She was devoted to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Sandy will be missed deeply by her family and friends.
