A funeral service for 52-year-old Mr. Leon Wayne Strader of Hannawa Falls will be Monday, January 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam with Pastor John Frary officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville.
Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wayne died January 6, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Survivors include his wife, Hope, of Hannawa Falls; his mother, Patricia Strader of Hannawa Falls; a son, Matthew John Strader and his wife Krista Larock of Potsdam; a step-son, Sherman Taylor of Nicholville; two sisters, Ellie and her husband Paul Newvine of W. Stockholm and Becky and her husband John Zabel of Hebron, Conn.; his maternal grandmother, Christina Siedlecki; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Leon Wayne Strader was born in Potsdam on January 29, 1958 the son of Leon William and Patricia Ann (Siedlecki) Strader.
He graduated from Potsdam High School in 1976 and received his Associates Degree from SUNY Canton College in 1983.
He was employed at Clarkson College for 32 years as a carpenter.
A marriage to Victoria Gagon ended in divorce. He later married Hope Stokes.
Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam.
