Funeral services for Leda A. Brabant, age 83, of 800 Patterson St., will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on August 4, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Brabant passed away on August 1, 2010 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.
Mrs. Brabant is survived by four sons, Gary and his wife Charmaine, Wayne (Joe), Gerald (Pete) and Francis, all of Ogdensburg; four daughters, Gail Eaton and her companion Harold Palmer, Vickie McGaw and her husband Robert, Denise Brabant and her companion Michael LeClair and Ellie (Lori) Brabant, all of Ogdensburg; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Leah Dianne Ritchie; one grandson, Michael Randolph; two great grandchildren, Erica Redmond and Jenna Brabant; one brother, William Maloney; and one sister, Emma Yerdon.
Mrs. Brabant was born on September 17, 1926 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude Lalonde Maloney. She graduated from local schools. She married Amos Brabant on March 12, 1941 at Notre Dame Church. He passed away February 1980. She first went to work for Ras Packs and later for St. Joseph’s Home as a Nurse’s Aide.
Mrs. Brabant enjoyed playing cards, collecting dolls and an avid collector. She loved pets.
