A Mass of the Resurrection for Kenneth A. Bourdon, 94, formerly of Church Hill Avenue will be held at Noon, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Massena. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family may call 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Kenneth was under the wonderfully compassionate care of Hospice and the Saint Regis Nursing Home Staff until his passing on Saturday, July 30, 2011, one day short of his 95th birthday at the Saint Regis Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Hart and her husband Rene of Massena, Carol Williams and her husband Roger of Syracuse; two sons, George and his wife Donna of Massena, James and his wife Nancy of Oswego; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by four brothers, James, George, Thomas and Armand Bourdon, along with one niece Karen Bourdon-Clark.
Kenneth was born in Clayton, NY July 31, 1916 the son of Armand and Viola Sharrow Bourdon. He graduated from Massena High School in 1934. Kenneth was also a graduate of LaSalle Extension in Chicago IL. He married Marion Ploof October 18, 1941 at the Church of the Sacred Heart by Rev. Msgr. Timothy Holland. Kenneth worked at ALCOA from 1937-1947 as an Inspector. He than went to work for Metropolitan Life for two years until starting the Bourdon's Insurance Agency on May 1, 1949 until his retirement on January 1, 1968.
Kenneth was a communicant of The Church of the Sacred Heart, a member of the Massena Knights of Columbus, Massena Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1702, The Massena Volunteer Fire Department and a past Member of The Massena Lions Club.
