A funeral for 63-year old Karen Ruth Stone will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam. The Rev. James Barnes, pastor of the Potsdam United Methodist Church, will officiate. An urn burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery in Canton at a later date. Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Friday from 11:00 to the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Ms. Stone died at her home in Canton on October 2, 2011.
Survivors include her mother, Sarah F. Stone of Potsdam; sons Derek Piper, Anthony Pickel, Andrew Pickel, and Patrick Gaffney; daughters Megan Pickel and Ashley Stone; two brothers, Michael Stone of Scottsville and Timothy Stone of Liverpool; a sister, Betsy Doody of Georgia; and two grandchildren.
Karen was predeceased by her father and one daughter, Sara M. Jenack.
She was born in Potsdam, May 23, 1948, the daughter of Richard L. and Sarah F. (Clark) Stone. Karen graduated from Burnt Hills High School in Ballston Spa. She was employed as a cook for several years at McCarthy’s Restaurant in Canton.
