A Mass of Resurrection for June A. Kirkey, 75, of Howard St, Massena, will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. (January 21, 2012) at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. June died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Massena Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for a day previously June was a resident at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
June's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the St. Regis Nursing Home and staff for the care of their loving wife and mother.
June is survived by her husband, Clarence Jr. of nearly 54 years; her daughter-in law, Kathy Kirkey of North Rose; sons Jeff and his wife Laura, Scott and wife Tammy of Massena and Todd and wife Dorionna Kirkey of Chateaugay; daughter Lorelei Kirkey and companion, Tanya Hoard of Brattleboro, VT; sixteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters Audrey and husband Frank Sheridan and Linda Lalonde both of Cornwall, Ontario; a brother, Terry and wife Tracy Carter of New Brunswick; a close brother in law, Ken and wife Ellen Kirkey of Massena; and sister in law Imelda Kirkey OSM, Omaha, NB.
June was preceded in death by her beloved son, Timothy on December 8, 2009; a grandson, Kevin Alguire; and a great grandson, Alex Kirkey.
June was born June 15, 1936 in Cornwall the daughter of Frederick (Jake) and Ella (Lefebvre) Carter. She married Clarence Kirkey, Jr. September 8, 1958 at St. Columban's Church, Cornwall, Ontario. June earlier was a sales representative for Olan Mills Studios and was one of their best representatives. June was employed at Econo Fuels as a secretary until she retired.
One of June’s great interests was following sports events and playing bingo. June and her husband Clarence were very active as volunteers for various organizations, Massena Rescue Squad Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and St. Vincent de Paul society.
The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary will pay their respects Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and St. Vincent de Paul Society will pay their respects Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. At the family's request memorials may be made to St Vincent De Paul Society.
