Funeral services for Julia Mae (Robare) Dobbs, age 69, of Rensselaer Falls will be held on Friday (Sept 2, 2011) at 10:00 a.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Dobbs died Friday August 26, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are two sons, Donald Dobbs and his wife Dawn of Ogdensburg, and John E. Dobbs and his partner Melissa Jerome of Rensselaer Falls; a daughter, Debra Dobbs and partner Patrick Foley of Attica; one brother, James Robare of Keeseville; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald “Dobber” Dobbs; a son, Thomas Dobbs; and three brothers, Sherman, Thomas and Harold Robare.
Julia was born in Plattsburgh, on July 20, 1942 the daughter of Roland and Julia (Mitchell) Robare. She graduated from Keeseville High School and married Donald A. Dobbs on September 29, 1962. After the couple’s marriage, they relocated to Attica, where they resided until 1982 when they moved back to Ogdensburg. Mrs. Dobbs was a Certified Nursing Assistant, primarily working for Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo and spending time with her family. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to the American Lung Association.
