Funeral Services for Joseph G. Riley, 77, formerly of East Ave Massena will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday ( February 16, 2011) at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena with Rev. Jeff Aiosa officiating and Deacon James Hotte co-officiating.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Tuesday (February 15, 2011) from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Norfolk in the spring. Joseph died Saturday (February 12, 2011) at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a son and three daughters, Bruce I. and wife Marge of Massena, Miss Donna Tirinato of Baldwinsville, Mrs. James (Nancy) Madigan of Melrose, and Mrs. John (Lynn) Colombe of Massena; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer, Crista and Anthony Tirinato, Michael and Rachel Riley, Mark Power and Michelle Dumas, Ian, Joseph and Elizabeth Madigan, Alicia Lawrence, and Samantha and Sara Colombe; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Sauve of Massena and Mrs. Rene (Natalie) Daniels of Hull, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Joseph G. Jr.; and one sister, Theresa Bunyea.
Joseph was born February 5, 1934 the son of Bernard and Emma Yadow Riley. He attended schools in Brasher Falls. He was a US Army veteran serving from January 16, 1953 to May 17,1955. He married Phyllis Leggue on November 18, 1955 at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. He was employed at Army Corps of Engineers and later employed in construction. He started in 1965 at Reynolds Metals as a maintenance mechanic and retired in 1995. Joseph owned and operated J. Riley's Plumbing.
He was a member of the Massena Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1702. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions to go to The Alzheimer's Association.
